Recently I attended an amazing 3-day retreat, lead by Greg Clowminzer of Zen Coach, where I got to connect with my truest and most real self - that part of me beyond all the ideas I have (and others have) about myself (both true and not true).
I was able to experience and remember the part of me that is pure unconditional Love, and the deep well of Calm I always have within me. From here, life simply works better.
The personal growth work I have done over the years certainly helped set the stage, and allowed me to reach an even deeper sense of self during the weekend, so I can now more fully bring who I am to my daily life. And Greg and his staff create a warm and sacred and safe environment for this unfolding to occur.
So what are some tangible ways that this learning has affected my daily life so far?
1. Being more present. I am more present, in each moment, to who I am, what I feel, what I am doing, whomever I am with. I am more fully engaged in life.
2. Eating more slowly. Rather than eating on the run or at my desk, as I usually do, I now clear and set a nice table, only eat (rather than also reading or watching TV), and focus on what I am putting into my body. I find that I enjoy my food more, and eat less. And it gives me a nice (and usually much-needed) break from whatever I am doing, even if only for a few minutes.
3. Laughing more. I find that I laugh much more easily and frequently. And I love that! I have been one that takes life far too seriously. Maybe it is the scientist in me.
4. Moving through challenges more easily. I had allowed some challenges (both technical and my own fears) to delay getting this blog online. Call it coincidence, or not, in the few days following the retreat, my blog was finally up for the world to see!
5. Feeling more gratitude. Every day I am even more appreciative of all I have and experience, and for each moment of life. Just a warm smile from someone or a beautiful rainbow or a call from a friend can make my day.
There is more, but you get the idea.
Who doesn't yearn to be more real, to bring more fully who they are to the world? How about you? How do you bring more of You to the world?
